atoi converts a symbol, list, int, or float into a list of up to 255 integers. This can be useful for formatting messages into a stream of sysex bytes or serial commands. Both inlets receive any message, convert to a character string, and output a list of int values. The first inlet immediately translates and transmits. It also responds to bang, outputting what is in the buffer. The second inlet is used to concatenate to what is in the buffer.

The P5 glove controller sends 5 streams of continuous data for each of the five fingers on the glove. Data is also sent with respect to the gloveís X Y and Z orientation. In this example, the EAMIR software translates the finger bend data to chords from the C Major scale. Buttons on the glove can be programmed to trigger modulation (common-tone, chromatic mediant, etc.). X, Y, and Z data can be programmed to control dynamics, arpeggiation tempo, and other aspects of the performance.

The EAMIR tiles take the amount force exerted into them and convert that energy it into music. Embedded in each floor tile, beneath the colored rectangle, is a sensor that measures force. The amount of force is translated differently depending on which tile program is being run. This simple program outputs the notes of the C Major scale from low to high depending on the amount of force exerted. Other programs allow the tiles to be used for pitch matching games and activities for memory reinforcement as well as extended options for musical performance. The tiles are moveable and may also be mounted vertically (attached to the walls) if desired.

Logarithmic fader for signals. gain~ is a slider that scales signals. It can also make a smooth transition as you move from one value of the slider to the next. Parameters of line's formula that translates between slider values and the signal scalar can be changed via messages or by selecting the object and choosing Get Info… from the Max menu.
