sadam.mutex External Mutual exclusion (semaphore) object.
sadam.mutex will help you managing the access of shared resources in your patch using semaphores. A semaphore can be locked and released, and while locked, it will prevent messages from passing through. Each semaphore must have an unique name, and instances of sadam.mutex with the same name will access the same semaphore. Each mutex has two modes, they can be either locker or releaser instances to the same semaphore. A locker object will test for each incoming message whether the semaphore is locked and if not, it will lock the semaphore and pass the message to the appropriate outlet. Releaser objects will release the semaphore each time a message arrives to their inlet.
sadam.phasor~ External Phasor object with maximal resting state.
sadam.phasor~ will generate a ramp between 0 and 1 with the given frequency. The only difference between this object and the legacy phasor~ object is that if frequency is set to 0, the ramp will continue until it reaches 1. This can be useful in scenarios when the phasor is controlling a modulation and for 0 frequency we'd like to turn off the modulation completely, including DC effects.
sadam.prime External Compute the closest prime numbers to a positive integer.
sadam.prime will compute the closest prime numbers to the absolute value of any integer input. It also reports whether the absolute value of the input is a prime or not. Since the smallest prime number is 2, if the absolute value of the input is smaller than 2, the outlet reporting the closest smaller prime will give false results (it reports the absolute value of the input). The object uses an internal prime table to compute the primes which can be printed to the Max window.
sadam.rapidXML External A RapidXML wrapper for Max.
sadam.rapidXML will create, read, store or even modify DOM trees. The DOM is one of the possible representations of the contents of an XML document (see http://www.w3.org/TR/DOM-Level-2-Core/.) The object internally uses the RapidXML 1.13 library (see http://rapidxml.sourceforge.net/,) which is one of the fastest, yet still almost completely W3C compliant, freely available XML parsers.

When an XML is parsed, the object will assign a unique ID to each Element of the document, called the Element Index. This index won't get stored and changes each time when the order of Elements in the XML is modified (either by inserting or removing Elements). However, using the Element Index is the preferred (and in most cases, the only) way to address a given element in the XML. The Element Index is sent out the rightmost outlet each time an element is accessed. The Element Index of the Document Element is always 0, the rest of the Elements get their index in their 'order of appearence'. This means that even if an Element is being inserted or removed, the Index of the Elements that come earlier in the Document won't change.

When querying Attributes, Text, or CDATA nodes, the requested data will be sent out the appropriate outlets in right-to-left order (in case of Attributes, if more than one Attribute is requested, they will be sent to the output as a sequence like AttributeName1-AttributeValue1-AttributeName2-AttributeValue2-...-AttributeNameN-AttributeValueN, alternating on the appropriate outlets) followed by an error code. When querying Elements, the result will be sent out as a sequence (from right to left) consisting of the Element Index, the Tree Depth of the Element (the Document Element is at level 0, its children are at level 1 etc.), the Element's Tag Name, the Attributes, and finally the Text Content (which is a concatenation of all Text and CDATA nodes).

The leftmost outlet serves as an error outlet. After each command sent to the object, an error code is being sent back through this outlet at the end of the execution of the given command. A negative value means that the command could not be executed successfully, while 0 means success. In some cases (typically when one or more Elements are queried) the error outlet reports the number of Elements successfully returned.

As already mentioned, RapidXML 1.13 (and therefore sadam.rapidXML) is not fully W3C compliant. The main reason is that the parser ignores DOCTYPE declarations. There are also some difficulties with namespace management as well, the parser wouldn't refuse XMLs containing more than one root element and it will allow duplicate attributes for the same element. Also, to make parsing faster, all kind of XML validation is turned off by the wrapper Max object. If you need a 100% W3C compliant XML parser, consider sadam.dom, which is almost identical in functionality to sadam.rapidXML and requires MXJ to run.
sadam.sax Javaclass (mxj) A Simple API for XML (SAX) interface for Max.
sadam.sax will parse XML documents using SAX. The output will be sent out for each Element as a sequence (from right to left) consisting of the Element Index (the number of the Element in the XML), the Tree Depth of the Element (the Document Element is at level 0, its children are at level 1 etc.), the Element's Tag Name, the Attributes, and finally the Text Content (which is a concatenation of all Text and CDATA nodes). The leftmost outlet serves as an error outlet: if any error happens during parsing, it returns -1, otherwise it returns 0 after finishing the parsing process.

sadam.dom and sadam.sax are both W3C compliant XML parsers, however, this means some overhead in terms of resources. If you need a lightweight, fast XML parser and you can live with some limitations regarding W3C compliance, consider using sadam.rapidXML.
sadam.split External Split incoming number sequence.
sadam.split will route numbers to different outlets according to a set of ranges. These ranges are defined by breakpoints which can either be set as arguments to the object or changed on-the-fly. Numbers that wouldn't match any range will be sent out the leftmost (rightmost) outlet if they are lower (higher) than the lowest (highest) breakpoint.
sadam.standardMap~ External A chaotic oscillator based on Chirikov's Standard Map.
sadam.standardMap~ will generate a signal based on the Standard Map, a one-parameter chaotic model widely used in condensed matter physics. As input it takes one parameter, the so-called 'kicking strength' (K). The initial phase (X0) and moment (P0) of the oscillator can be set manually or randomly. The object outputs the current phase (X) and moment (P) of the oscillator (the phase is scaled to fit in the [-1;1] region). The third outlet gives the current velocity of the phase point representing the current state of the oscillator. sadam.stat External Get mean and standard deviation of a number sequence.
sadam.stat will compute the mean and the standard deviation of a sequence of numbers. With no arguments it will compute these values using all the numbers it received (like the mean object) while by declaring a fixed buffer size N it will do the calculations only on the last N entries.
sadam.tcpClient External Bidirectional TCP client.
sadam.tcpClient will open a TCP connection to a specified IPv4 address on a specified port and will send and receive arbitrary information through this connection. Currently it is only able to manage binary data (either by sending bytes directly to the object or by registering it to a binary stream represented by sadam.stream) but in a later release it will support any arbitrary Max message.
sadam.tcpReceiver External Receive data from the network using the TCP protocol.
sadam.tcpReceiver will listen to a specified port and output incoming data. Currently it will output everything as pure binary data (by sending out the received bytes one-by-one on the leftmost outlet and, optionally, by adding them to the registered binary streams represented by sadam.stream) but a later release will support any arbitrary Max message.
sadam.tcpSender External Send data through the network using the TCP protocol.
sadam.tcpSender will send data to a specified IPv4 address on a specified port. Currently it is only able to send binary data (either by sending bytes directly to the object or by registering it to a binary stream represented by sadam.stream) but in a later release it will support any arbitrary Max message. The connection is not kept alive, instead, it is opened each time a message is being sent and closed just afterwards. This makes sure that the underlying operating system would send the messages instantaneously.
sadam.udpReceiver External Receive data from the network using the UDP protocol.
sadam.udpReceiver will listen to a specified port and output incoming data. Currently it will output everything as pure binary data (by sending out the received bytes one-by-one on the leftmost outlet and, optionally, by adding them to the registered binary streams represented by sadam.stream) but a later release will support any arbitrary Max message.
samplor~ External A general simple sampling engine.
This external object can be used to simplify the task of building a sampler patch in max.
It deals with efficient voice allocation, cross-faded looping, adsr enveloppes and multi-channel buffers and outputs.
sampv1~ Abstraction simple sampler voice element
This is a simple sampler voice element using the MSP play~ object. The interest of sampv1~ is that all of the commands are on a higher level: velocity (scaled to MIDI values), transposition (in cents) onset, rise and decay times (in milliseconds), and sample name/number.
savedialog External Open a dialog to ask for a filename for saving
The savedialog object takes a list of one or more file types and allows you to save a file and choose a type for it. To choose a folder, use the "fold" type. savedialog reports the entire pathname of the file or folder chosen, which can be passed to any Max object after the word write or save.

Boids is free for non-commercial use.

Boids is a bird flight and animal flock simulator. It is based on the same algorithm which was used in Jurassic Park for the herding dinosaurs.
Boids takes an integer argument which is the number of boids. Each time Boids receives a bang, it calculates and outputs the new positions of the boids. The output consists of thew coordiantes for each boid, the number and type depending on the mode.

The flight parameters can be changed with messages. Use the 'dump' message to output a list of the current parameter settings.

When manipulating human knowledge such as perception, feelings, appreciation, veracity of facts, etc., the classical logic that recognize only two truth degrees (true or false) is not always the most suitable.

To solve this problem, more than two degrees are considered in the non-classical logics. The fuzzy logic is one of these logics.

In this logic, facts are represented through membership functions: when the membership value is equal to 1 the fact is exactly true; when it is equal to 0 the fact is exactly false; in between there is an uncertainty about the veracity of the fact.

These membership functions are called "fuzzy subsets". They can be of different shapes: gaussian, trapezoidal, triangular, etc.

Thus the aim of the fuzzy logic is to propose a theoretical framework for the manipulation - representation and reasoning - of such facts.

The Fuzzy Lib library implements all the tools that are necessary to handle this manipulation: representation of a fuzzy subset (among them are the fuzzification, defuzzification and partitioning), reasoning process (generalized modus ponens, fuzzy implications, t-norms, t-conorms, etc.).

This version 1 of the Fuzzy Lib enables to implement fuzzification, uncertain reasoning and defuzzification for any number of data in the framework of Max/MSP environment.

MaxAlea was begun as a Max port of an existing PatchWork Library created in 1991-2 by Mikhail Malt. While the distributions and functions found in MaxAlea are similar to those found in the Patchwork version ,there are many differences in their functioning. The environment of Patchwork is static and is not designed for real-time work. Part of the incentive for creating these objects to work with Max was to have a dynamic and real-time environment with which to experiment and work with these algorithms in a manner as simple and straightforward as possible. One can change variables and manipulate the output in many ways in real-time. There are several different versions of the various stochastic models/processes best presented in the now classic references by Denis Lorrain and Charles Dodge. Carl Faia has used a variety of sources for the creation of this library which include the Lorrain, Dodge and Malt implementations as well as sources found on the WorldWideWeb. The externals found in the package include several random distributions, examples of random walks and 1/f noise algorithms, as well as one or two utilities written specifically for the MaxAlea library. Carl Faia wanted to make a coherent collection (as he thought Malt had managed to do in PatchWork) of these various algorithms and provide an interface easily accessible using the Max environment for real-time control. All these algorithms have been created using a seeded version of the random function found in the standard AINSI library. That is, each time the function is first run there will always be a different set of random numbers (unlike the random funtions found in Max, PatchWork and other versions of random number generators).

These Max objects have been enhanced since the documentation to the left was written. Help files for the objects provide information on enhancements.

The matrix object has been substantially upgraded. It now combines features of unpack, spray, funnel, append, and prepend into one object. This makes a great object to place between controllers and jit objects because it acts like a multi-prepend. There are new configuration commands and enhancements to the old: even, odd, mod,and range, among others). Most commands can be applied to inlets of outlets. There is also a mute function that adds another layer of control. Matrixctrl support has been enhanced. See the help file for full details and examples.

Most other objects now fully support floats. RCer and autocount will count in float values, not just integers.

Notegen16 is a 16 channel version of its predecessor: notegen. It is more generalized and much more efficient.
PeRColate

It is centered around a (partial) port of the Synthesis Toolkit (STK) by Perry Cook (Princeton) and Gary Scavone (Stanford CCRMA). Like the STK, it provides a fairly easy to use library of synthesis and signal processing functions (in C) that can be wired together to create conventional and unusual instruments. Also like the STK, it includes a variety of precompiled synthesis objects, including physical modeling, modal, and PhISM class instruments; the code for these instruments can serve as foundations for creating new instruments (one example, the blotar, is included) and can be used to teach elementary and advanced synthesis techniques. Given it's STK heritage and educational function, PeRColate is largely un-optimized, though all the objects run on a 80MHz 7100, which is pretty good. PeRColate also includes a number of objects not from the STK; some are from RTcmix and others are our own evil creations, designed to crash your computer, but only after making some kind of interesting sound or image.

These objects provide real-time simulations, specially physical behaviors. pmpd can be used to create natural dynamic systems, like a bouncing ball, string movement, Brownian movement, chaos, fluid dynamics, sand, gravitation, and more.
With pmpd physical dynamics can be modelled without knowing the global equation of the movement. Only the cause of the movement and the involved structure are needed for the simulation. pmpd provides the basic objects for this kind of simulation. Assembling them allows the creation of a very large variety of dynamic systems .

Suivi is based on FTM and requires the shared library FTMlib for Max/MSP. Both externals use an FTM track object - a sequence of time-tagged FTM values - to store the score of the soloist performance to be followed. Notes, trills and other elements of the score are represented by FTM score objects (FTM scoob class). For the moment, scores can be imported from standard MIDI files only.
An editor for the FTM track class, which will also provide a graphical control interface for the score follower is under development as well as the import of MusicXML files.
The suivi object set is distributed within the IRCAM Forum.

It is programmed with Max/MSP/Jitter and exists as a standalone application (free download), as well as in patch version for advanced users.
